as jornadas do explorador Marco Polo pelo
reino do imperador chinês Kublai
Khan.
Feito para a
partipação do concurso
de tipografia europeu ISTD, mostrando interpretaçõs de cada uma das cidades com letras inspiradas em simbologia oriental e na narrativa de decadência dos cenários descritos. O império de Khan
está morrendo, as fronteiras se misturam e nada é realmente real, é invisível,
e através de fontes variáveis as margens vão diminuindo a cada página, pois são as letras que criam a experiência de leitura.

Graphic project for the book “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino, which tells the stories of the explorer Marco Polo through the kingdom of the chinese empreror Kublai Khan. Createad for the european typography contest ISTD, it shows my interpretations of each one of the cities with letters inspired by oriental symbolism and the book’s narrative of decay of the described scenarios. Khan’s empire is dying, its borders mix with one another and nothing is really real, is invisible, and by choosing variable fonts the margins become thiner by each page because only the letters which create the reading experience.
